Pulse Pilot vs Scale Insights

Scale Insights and Pulse Pilot are both Amazon PPC software built for sellers who want rules they can read, not a black box. The difference is how far the rules go, and what happens when you'd rather not write them at all. Here's the honest comparison.

We make Pulse Pilot, so we're not neutral. We've tried to be fair: facts about the other tool come from its own pages wherever possible, the sources are listed at the bottom, and this page says where it's the better pick. Prices and features change, so check theirs before you buy. Spot something out of date? Email support@pulsepilotppc.com and we'll fix it.

The short version

Choose Scale Insights if
  • You want the lowest price on a small catalog, or on lower ad spend
  • You sell in the UK, Europe, Japan or Australia
  • You only ever want to run your own rules
Choose Pulse Pilot if
  • You want a different lookback on each condition in one rule
  • You want winners harvested straight into their own SKC
  • You want the option to go hands-off with Autopilot

What Pulse Pilot's Amazon PPC software does that Scale Insights doesn't

A hands-off mode
Scale Insights' automation engine runs the rules you set; its optimizer only recommends changes [12][13]. Pulse Pilot gives you your own rules in Pilot, or Autopilot to run the account for you.
A different lookback on every condition
"Expensive in the last 7 days" AND "enough clicks in the last 60" in one rule, each condition with its own date range and its own exclusion window. In Scale Insights, a rule's performance conditions share one window, set by "Days to Analyze" (a global default that bidding and placement rules can override); only its portfolio-budget condition has its own [14][7].
Harvest winners straight into their own single-keyword campaign
When a search proves itself, Pulse Pilot can move it into its own SKC automatically, so it gets its own bid and budget. Scale Insights has a Split Keywords tool you run by hand, and its Import rule adds keywords to an existing ad group [15][16].
OR conditions
Pulse Pilot rules combine conditions with AND and OR. Within a Scale Insights rule, criteria combine with AND; OR works only by stacking separate rules [17][20].

Custom Amazon PPC rule building

Most Amazon PPC rule builders give a rule one date range. Pulse Pilot gives every condition its own. That matters, because the questions you actually ask run on different clocks:

Pulse Pilot Amazon PPC rule builder: IF ACoS is over 25% with a 7-day lookback AND clicks are over 40 with a 60-day lookback, each condition excluding today
One rule in Pulse Pilot: ACoS over 25% in the last 7 days, AND more than 40 clicks in the last 60 days.

In plain words: it's been expensive lately, and it's had enough clicks overall to judge it fairly. One rule, two clocks. Each condition also has its own exclusion, so it can skip the recent days Amazon is still filling in.

Where Scale Insights is the better pick

  • Cheaper for small catalogs or lower spend. 20 products are $178/mo, or $142 billed yearly, and its 1% Plan is $100 at $10K of spend [1].
  • More countries. 12 Amazon marketplaces, including the UK, Europe, Japan and Australia [1].
  • A longer trial with no card. 30 days, though the trial automates one product in one country [1].
  • A mature rules engine. 11 stackable algorithms, previews before anything runs, step-by-step calculations, and lookbacks up to 365 days on the bidding rule (180 on most others) [6][7].
  • Unlimited team members with their own permissions [8].
  • A market conversion column for each search query [19].

Where Pulse Pilot is also the better pick

  • No catalog limit. On Scale Insights' per-product plans, 50 products cost $388/mo and 100 cost $688/mo, per country [1]. Pulse Pilot is $199 for unlimited products. (On its 1% Plan, cost grows with ad spend instead.)
  • Hourly data built in. Scale Insights updates every few hours, and its dayparting heatmap comes from an hourly report you download from Amazon and upload [18][3]. Pulse Pilot runs on Amazon's hourly data automatically.
  • A gentler start. RevenueGeeks' review lists a steep learning curve as a drawback [9]. With Pulse Pilot you can start hands-off on Autopilot and move to your own rules later.

How each one sets your Amazon ad bids

Scale Insights is rules you build. You attach preset or custom algorithms to your ad groups: bidding, placements, budgets, dayparting, harvesting, negatives and more, and stack as many as you need [6][10]. You can preview changes before they run, and the change log shows the rule that fired and the metrics at the time [4]. In August 2026 it launched SI MCP, a connector that lets AI assistants like Claude read your Scale Insights data and create rules within limits you set [11].

Pulse Pilot gives you two equal ways to run your ads. On Pilot, you build the rules yourself, with a lookback and an exclusion window on each condition, AND/OR logic, and a test run that shows what a rule would change before it touches a live bid. On Autopilot, Pulse Pilot builds and runs the campaign structure toward your goal, hands-off, including harvesting winning searches into their own single-keyword campaigns. Either way, the AI never sets a bid. Every change comes from readable rules and is logged with the reason. Click-count rules, dayparting and budget pacing run every hour on Amazon's hourly data.
