Campaign Mapping
Campaign Mapping is the Pilot tool that saves, for a source campaign, the destination campaigns its search terms are sent to, with a match type and bid per destination. A mapping is a saved template: nothing moves on its own when you save one. The Harvest Rules editor reads it (see Good to know). Words such as match type and negative keyword are explained in the Amazon advertising glossary; Pulse Pilot's own words are on Pulse Pilot Vocabulary.
Open Tools → Campaign Mapping. Each control below is marked Required, Optional or Preselected. Required means Save stops with a message until the control is filled.
Toolbar
Search campaigns. Optional. Filters the mappings on the page to those whose source or any destination campaign name contains the text.
Campaign Tag. Optional; shown only when the account has campaign tags. A multi-select of tags from the Campaign Tags page. Keeps only mappings whose source campaign carries every selected tag.
Download Template. Saves a spreadsheet with the upload columns (below).
Upload CSV. Opens a file picker for a .csv or .xlsx file and shows a Confirm Import window before anything is saved.
Add Mapping. Adds an empty mapping card at the top of the list, with one empty destination.
The four counters
Source Campaigns, Total Destinations, With Exact and With Phrase count the saved mappings. A card you have added but not yet saved is not counted.
A mapping card
Each card is one source campaign and its destinations. The trash icon in the card's top right deletes the whole mapping; for a saved mapping the rows are removed at once, with no confirmation.
1 · Source Campaign
Campaign. Required. A searchable picker listing every campaign in the account; SB and SD campaigns are prefixed [SB] and [SD]. Choosing a campaign clears the Ad Group below.
Ad Group. Optional. A dropdown of the source campaign's ad groups; it is disabled until a campaign is chosen. Left on "All ad groups", the mapping applies to the whole campaign.
2 · Destinations
Each destination is its own numbered row. Add Destination adds a row; the × on a row removes it.
Destination campaign. Required. The same searchable picker as the source.
Destination ad group. Optional. The destination campaign's ad groups; "All ad groups" when left blank.
Match type 1. Preselected (Exact). One of Exact, Phrase, Broad, PAT - Exact and PAT - Expanded. It cannot be blank.
Match type 2 and Match type 3. Optional. The same list plus "None".
Bid ($). Optional; prefilled with 0.75. Accepts a number of at least 0.02, to the cent. Left blank, the mapping is saved without a bid.
Source Campaign Negatives. Optional; all three off by default. Three toggles, Neg Exact, Neg Phrase and Neg ASIN. They record whether a harvested term is also to be negated in the source campaign, in that match type. They are saved with the destination row and carried into a harvest rule when the mapping is loaded there.
Saving
A card with unsaved changes shows an orange left edge, and a Save All Changes button appears at the bottom of the page with the count of unsaved cards. Saving checks each card: a missing source campaign stops with "Source campaign is required."; a destination with no campaign stops with "Each destination needs a campaign and Match Type 1." A saved mapping replaces whatever was saved before for that source campaign.
Upload
The template and the upload share one column order: Source Campaign, Source Ad Group, Destination Campaign, Destination Ad Group, Match Type 1, Match Type 2, Match Type 3, Neg Exact, Neg Phrase, Neg ASIN, Bid. The first row is a header and is skipped.
- Campaigns and ad groups are matched by name, ignoring case. An unknown campaign name, an unknown destination ad group name, or a blank Match Type 1 skips that row with a message in the Confirm Import window.
- A blank ad group cell, or the words "All ad groups", means the whole campaign.
- The three Neg columns accept yes or true; anything else is off.
- Import N Row(s) adds the rows to the page. Rows for a source campaign that already has a saved mapping are added to it, not swapped in for it.
Good to know
- A mapping does nothing until a harvest rule loads it. In Harvest Rules, when a rule's source campaign has a saved mapping, the rule editor shows a Load Mapping button. Apply — replace destinations copies the mapping's destinations, bids and Source Campaign Negatives into the rule in place of whatever destinations the rule had.
- Only Exact, Phrase and Broad carry over. When a mapping is loaded into a harvest rule, destinations with a PAT match type come through with no match type ticked.
- Deleting a saved mapping is immediate. The trash icon removes the saved rows without a confirmation step. Removing a single destination with its × is not saved until Save All Changes.
