Keyword Tags

Keyword Tags is the Pilot tool that puts a label on any set of keywords. A tag has no effect of its own; other screens offer it as a filter (see Good to know). Words such as match type are explained in the Amazon advertising glossary; Pulse Pilot's own words are on Pulse Pilot Vocabulary.

Open Tools → Keyword Tags. The left column holds the tags; the right panel holds the keywords in the selected tag. Each control below is marked Required or Optional.

Left column

Create Tag. A text box and an + Add button. The button is disabled while the box is empty. The name is stored in lower case. A name that already exists shows "Tag already exists". A new tag is saved as soon as it is added, selected, and opens the right panel with no keywords in it.

Tags list. One row per tag with a delete button. Clicking a row selects it; clicking it again deselects it. Delete asks for confirmation, then removes the tag and takes it off every keyword that had it.

Header. The tag name and its keyword count.

Keywords in this tag. One row per keyword: an SP or SB pill, the keyword text, its match type, its campaign, its ad group, and a remove button. Removing takes the tag off that keyword at once. The table controls at the top right change the grid display.

Add Keywords. A search box and a Search button; Enter also searches. The button is disabled while the box is empty. The search returns keywords whose text contains the query, up to 50 SP keywords and 50 SB keywords, sorted by text. Each result row shows the pill, keyword, match type and campaign, with the Ad Group column left blank, and an + Add button. Add puts the tag on that keyword at once; a keyword already in the tag shows Added instead.

Good to know

1. Where tags are used. The Keywords page has a Keyword Tag filter and a tag editor in each keyword's row, and can tag many keywords at once from its bulk actions. The Product Targeting page has a Target Tag filter drawn from the same list. The Dayparting page's keyword search can be narrowed by keyword tag. Nothing else reads keyword tags.
2. There is no upload on this page. Keyword tags are added one keyword at a time here, or in bulk from the Keywords page.
3. Tags survive with no keywords. Unlike Campaign Tags, a keyword tag is stored the moment it is created and stays in the list while empty.
